Weight Control Management with Wheat Bran – Boosting Nutrition

 

All of us in a way or other want to lose weight, stay healthy, and don’t want to compromise in eating. Here is a good news –  With this whole grain(outer layer) full of fiber, rich in minerals and good for our digestive system. When mixed with water;  in intestine it increases the volume of intestinal content and gives us a feeling of fullness. So without compromising we can lose weight.

There are many ways we can incorporate wheat bran  in our diet. I normally knead my dough 50:50 (whole wheat and wheat bran). You can make Indian breads (roti), Milk cereals, smoothies, Mix with yogurt, pizza dough.

Wheat bran is used as a source of dietary fiber for preventing colon diseases (including cancer), stomach cancer, breast cancer, gallbladder disease, hemorrhoids and hiatal hernia. It is also used for treating constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes.

I have incorporated bran in my diet with good amount exercise( Includes cycling, bootcamp, taebo, walk) and right nutrition I am able to shed few pounds every week (1-1.5 lbs)

Few of the things I have tried cooking:

  1. Peanut butter with bran  cookies without baking
  2. Apple and bran baked granola
  3. Indian bread
  4. Sprinkling on cereal
  5. Adding to favorite smoothie
  6. Mix with yogurt
  7. Pizza dough
