Self-feeding a healthy breakfast- Apple Oats Cereals

“They say fingers were made before forks and hands before knives.”   -Jonathan Swift

My little cutie pie turned 14 months and now going through so many incredible changes. It’s an amazing age, yet exciting too. Her favorite foods right now are: yogurt, oats, avocados, sweet potato, beans, lotus seeds, baby carrots, apples (we can’t eat anything without sharing with her anymore……she eyes us until we give her some). She loves to self feed and you can see food all over her hair, clothes, in the nose, behind her ears. Don’t try to be a cleanliness savvy mom, let her (them) mess and  see how they enjoy, fill up their little tummies, and enjoy and  explore food.

Let go of the need to be neat.

Apple Oats cereal bowl for Babies

Ingredients
  • Organic Apple/ – 1 large, grated with or without skin (your choice)
  • Old fashioned oats – 2 tbsp
  • Milk – 4-5 tbsp
  • Water – 1/4 cup
  • Cinnamon – (optional)
  • Chia seeds, raisins, goji berries- optional
Method
  1. In a pan pour and heat water, add the oats and let it cook on a medium-high flame as the oats becomes soft and thick. This takes around 4 minutes.
  2. Add the grated apple to it and let it simmer.
  3. Now add  milk and pinch of cinnamon to this and let it cook for another minute.
  4. Switch off.
  5. Blend it in a mixer if you feel the texture is not suitable for your baby. Mine loves the chunky texture.
  6. Garnish with toppings of your choice.
