Healthy Snacking, Happy Mommy

We mothers, wives- while taking care of kids and family forget to take care of ourselves. It is similar to the instructions in the airplane- If you are traveling with a small baby, please put your mask on first and then help your baby with her mask.” In other words, we need to take care of ourselves so that we can take care of our family. I believe that is a message every mother needs to hear.

So thinking about this, I have started this habit of keeping a snack on the counter top when I am at home and keeping some healthy options in my purse while I am out. Also, when the kitchen shelf has something healthy to munch kids and dads too binge on.

No one else can do a better self-care than us (me for me). I try to make every snack I eat during the day center around vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts and of course keep myself well hydrated.

  1. Vegetable or fruit.
  2. Carrots, celery stick, Broccoli, hummus,
  3. Apple slices, peanut, almond butter
  4. Roasted black grams, edamame, Cuzco (baked corn nuts)
  5. Lotus seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, raisins, figs, apricots, goji berries
  6. Baked sweet potatoes

List goes on…

Clearing the counters of the prep packaged cereals, sugary drinks, and other snack items and replacing them with healthier visible reminders like fresh fruit could help.

I was going through this and found worth sharing:

Healthy Snacking

Sticking to a healthy diet is often easier said than done. Now a new study suggests that the foods sitting out on your kitchen counter could be making the task even harder.

Hope we take more care of us now:-)
