Have you ever heard of Oil Pulling? About two months ago, I read about this ancient Ayurveda ritual dating back over 3,000 years. This method promotes Oral Hygiene. Oil pulling involves placing a tablespoon of extra virgin organic cold pressed oil (I like the coconut flavor so used coconut oil). You can use sesame, olive, sunflower oil too. Now swish it around for up to 20 minutes, minimum 5 minutes (pulling it between your teeth), before spitting it out.
CAUTION HERE! Do not spit down the sink, though; the oil could clog the drain. I used a small paper towel for spitting it out and throwing it in the trash.

Oil pulling is amazingly effective in brightening teeth, healing gums, preventing bad breath, satiating inflammation, and healing oral infections. It is beneficial in improving gums and removing harmful bacteria! Whatever you do, do not swallow the oil as you will ingest the toxins you are trying to wipe out. Afterwards requires brushing your teeth, and rinsing your mouth out. And you’re done! It really is that easy.

Oil pulling is best done in the morning, before eating or drinking anything.
Oil pulling should never replace routine dental visits and traditional home oral care.

But I’d encourage anyone considering it to do their own research as well.
